About This Site

Gryffyn's Aeyrie

The Gryffyn's Aeyrie web site has existed in several different forms over the years since first appearing on the internet in 1998. Goodness, how it has grown since then! Web design became a fascination for me and I was constantly trying to learn as much as I could about it. I started volunteering for work for various dog organizations and for friends - looking to explore new ideas.

In December 2000, I began working for a higher education institution, and web design was part of my duties, and it has now become the main focus of my job. I have my dogs to thank for my job, which I love, as it is because of them, and wanting to show them off on the web, that I delved into web design! I have since done many more sites, and they can be viewed in my online portfolio. I am available for contract design work from time to time and enjoy creating sites for other kennels and clubs.

In 2006 the design took on a plainer design than the previous while I worked with Cascading Style Sheets and experimented with tableJoyce Chinless layouts. It also gave me the chance to explore using different graphics filters and working with graphics layers.

This latest incarnation of our web site comes about because of a desire to do something with more "eye candy appeal" and a more textured and dreamy appearance than the site just previous. I was able to use more of the skills I have acquired with utilizing CSS, Photoshop, as well as SEO theory. Hopefully I will be patient with it a while - because this was an exhausting undertaking!

the Art work - The gorgeous "Borzoi Griffin" and play-bowing Silken displayed on our site are done by comics artist (and fellow Silken afficionado) Joyce Chin. I've always been a fan of the more gothic-style comics art, and after seeing some of Joyce's work, asked if she could create some goodies for me. Needless to say - I am thrilled with the results!!
